Olive Tree Planting in Emek TsurimAs part of the program to refresh the supply of olives trees on the Har Hazeitim range, students of the Irving Moskowitz Yeshiva - Yeshivat Beit Orot planted a great many olive sapplings in the Emek Tusrim National Park adjacent to Beit Orot.
Emek Tsurim National Park on the Mount of Olives is an important piece of the Jewish territorial contiguity developing around Jerusalem's Old City in the inner core of eastern Yerushalayim. It was through Emek Tsurim that the "oleh laregel" from the mountainous regions of the Judean Hills and Judean Desert would ascend to the Beit Hamikdash when it stood.
This project was made possible thanks to a grant by Terry Davis, a recent olah from New York State now residing in Tsfat.
Pictures of the tree planting can be seen in the "Picture Gallery" section of the Beit Orot website. |
