40th Yom Yerushalayim Celebrations at Beit OrotHundreds of people gathered at Beit Orot on Tuesday evening, May 15th - Yom Yerushalayim, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the city's unification.
The crowd gathered towards evening and heard first a lecture from the Rosh Hayeshiva, Harav Dani Isaac and thereafter participated in a special festive "Tefilat Arvit" (prayer service) in view of the incredible sight of the Old City and the Jerusalem skyline from atop Har Hazeitim.
As the conclusion of tefilla, guests enjoyed a formal dinner including greetings from Pinchas Wallerstein, Yesha leader and head of the Benjamin Regional Council, Member of Knesset Effie Eitam and Rav Shmuel Rabinovitch, the rav of the Kotel and Holy Sites Authority. During and after the dinner, guests joined in dancing courtesy of the "Nigun Shebalev" orchestra.
In the morning of Yom Yerushalayim, hundreds of hesder yeshiva students from accross the country gathered at The Irving Moskowitz Yeshiva & Campus - Yeshivat Beit Orot for a Yom Iyun. Students from as far north as Nahariya and south to Kiryat Malachi head lectures from Rav Chaim Drukman, Rav Elisha Vishlitski and Natan Sharansky. Thereafter, Beit Orot students led their counterparts on walking tours in the eastern parts of the city. The tiyulim included historical information and biblical backgrounds thanks to the many significant sights in Beit Orot's "backyard" on Har Hazeitim.
